The Nez de Jobourg is the great thrill of La Hague: a promontory of cliffs among the highest in continental Europe, battered by the currents of the Raz Blanchard, with Alderney and Sark on the horizon. The coastal path (GR 223) unrolls some of the most beautiful kilometres of shoreline in Normandy here.
At the end of the road, the Auberge des Grottes occupies one of the most spectacular spots imaginable: lunch facing the open sea, the cliffs right below the terrace. Booking strongly recommended for the terrace in season.
Allow a good half-day to combine Jobourg with the Écalgrain bay, nicknamed “little Ireland”, and the harbour of Goury at the very tip of the cape — the most beautiful coastal road in the department.
